not really. where else would they show. back in the day i didnt let my rings sit on my new pistons and i was blowing hella black smoke. i mean it could be the valve seals to. i mean you could take the head off and check. I forgot, there is a way to test to see if the piston rings are fried. you blowing black smoke huh?
yeah what you do is do a compression check on all 4 cylinders.
They need to read 10 percent of each other. if one is low than put a couple of squirts of oil in that cylinder. Then do the compression check again on that cylinder. if the compression goes hella high from the 1st reading than your piston rings are fried on that cylinder.
If they all read within 10 percent of each other than it is your valve seals.
well see. you have to take the pistons out of the motor. If you are going to do that. you might as well pull the whole motor out the car and tear it down. Its really not taht hard on B series. i mean if you gonna replace the rings might as well replace everything. meaning rebuild the motor. I mean you are running LS. so you can go buy a b20 and throw that in. get a b20 or LS and call it day.
a rod replaced?? you might as well fix your current motor. To get a rod replaced you have to do the same ****. Take out the rods which means the pistons are going to come out. YOu need to take that rod to a machine shop so they can press the piston off the rod. Just get a cheap ass LS motor. They are always for sale for like 300 bucks. or splurge and get a stock ass b20 for 600
out here you can get gsr longblock and tranny for about 800-G with about 80K miles. For your car you need the
Tranny(makes no sense to have a LS tranny with a gsr motor, you defeat the purpose)
Engine(depending on your car if you are 94-95 you need OBD1 wiring harness, dizzy, and intake manifold. I had OBD2 head for my OBD1 hatch. I swapped the dizzy and made the IM OBD1.
ECU(p72 to match your OBD)
Wiring harness( has to match the car and the ECU, also has to have VTEC. if you do get a vtec motor i will pull up the wiring diagram for you.
