Did any one read the article about the new K23 motor, (in the new Acura RDX), that was in Sport Compact Car , last month.
The basics:
-it's a turbocharged 2.3L, boasting 240hp and 260 in Tq. at 4500 rpm.
-Compression is down to 8.8:1
-It's said to be much stronger and bigger (thicker) than the K24 and K20, with forged conn. rods and crankshaft. The K24A2 also has a forged crankshaft.
-Has an aluminum exhaust manifold, which is water cooled, as well as the turbine
-the turbo is a proprietary unit, built in house with the help of some Japanese Company know as "Aishin", featuring varible flow technology. ( not sure if thats' new or not).
-VTEC operates only on the intake camshaft, which has a two lobe design, meaning one valve has the ability to switch between high and low cam profiles. Opposed to the K24 and K23 which allows both valves to switch cam profiles simutaneously.
-This is the touquiest engine that Honda has offered us here in the states. It has 4 more lb. ft. of torque than the ridgeline and the RL.
-A little bit bigger, and much stronger tranny than the other K' series motors.
All of this results in a nice package. I just wanted to make note, that this thing is built pretty good. One of the questions that was asked, to the Honda Eng. , responsible for the design, was " Will it fit into the other Honda Chassis"? LOL, She said no, but with companies like HasSport and such, i imagine it will only be soo long, before it's swapped. One of the obstacles for install would be, Engine mounts, it uses a Dog bone style mount on, one side of the engine. Another would be the bell housing for the tranny. It's larger, almost the size of the RL's bell housing, so, some sort of adaptor plate will have to be used.
Even with all this, would it still be worth the hassle, when the other K series engines are doing soo well, when responding to forced induction. Hmm, one never knows. But I did think of this, I wonder would the K20 or K24 heads, bolt up to this beefier bottom end. Sounds interesting. **** makes me want to get back into the Honda game...

motor sounds dope but why go through all the hassle when you can just turbo what you have. You can pick up a k24(accord or element) block and through your own internals. and dont have to worry about swappin it into anything cause its already been done. Im sure you could get the motor. ditch the tranny and swap into an rsx or ep chassis with ease. **** all i need is a passenger side mount for a k24 to go into my car.
yeah, that's what the article was saying also. I guess the only thing you gain, is Tq. Shyt, starting out with 260 lb. ft. of Tq, that's a damn good start. And imagine if that was in an N/A car.. ooh weee..
